Mayor, Westside community to celebrate opening of new affordable housing development for seniors
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson will join leaders of the Westside Community Development Corporation and the Christamore House for a grand opening celebration of a 34-unit affordable housing complex for low-income seniors.

Where: Christamore House Auditorium, 502 N. Tremont (near Tremont and West Michigan)
The new apartments, known as Christamore Court, will serve low-income seniors, who often face challenges from living on a fixed income and affording a safe, decent place to live. All of the units will be priced below market rate, with some apartments specifically reserved for very low-income seniors who are in housing crisis and on the brink of possibly becoming homeless.
Residents of Christamore Court will have access to a variety of services and programs offered by the Christamore House, the longtime Westside multi-service center located across the street from the new complex. The Christamore House’s senior programming and services will now be housed onsite at Christamore Court.
Christamore Court’s commitment to offering affordable units and supportive services is consistent with the city’s Blueprint to End Homelessness, which calls for not only providing affordable housing opportunities for individuals and families in housing crisis, but also preventing future homelessness by helping them acquire and maintain the resources necessary to support their housing needs.
The development of Christamore Court was led by the Westside Community Development Corporation (WCDC). Other community partners include the City of Indianapolis, the United Way of Central Indiana, the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, National City Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank.
Along with celebrating the grand opening of Christamore Court, tonight’s event will mark the long history of service to the Westside by the Christamore House and WCDC.
