Mayor declares 'Blue Friday' to get city fired up for Colts playoff game in New England
INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Bart Peterson will declare this coming Friday as "Blue Friday" and encouraged all of Indianapolis to wear Indianapolis Colts colors, T-shirts and jerseys in honor of the Colts' Sunday playoff game against the evil New England Patriots.
"The Colts once again are bringing national exposure to our city and state and all our great fans, and we believe this magical season will continue all the way to Jacksonville!" Mayor Peterson said. "Our players and coaches heard the support of this entire city and state last weekend at the Dome, but we must make sure they feel our support as they head east to take care of business."
On "Blue Friday," the Mayor is encouraging Indianapolis residents and employees to:
• Wear Colts colors on Friday and throughout the weekend. City employees will be allowed to dress casually Friday to wear Colts colors;
• Fly Colts flags and banners in their homes and offices; and
• Hold Colts parties and get-togethers to watch Sunday's game with fellow fans.
Local businesses also can get in the spirit by:
• Encouraging employees to wear Colts colors throughout the weekend;
• Hanging Colts posters and banners in storefronts;
• Spelling out "Go Colts" on their outdoor signs; and
• Fly Colts flags and banners.
The Mayor also added that fans, in addition to rooting on the Colts in New England on Sunday, should send their best wishes and thoughts this weekend to the New York Jets.
