Executive Order No. 6, 2002
CONSOLIDATED CITY OF INDIANAPOLIS COUNTY OF MARION STATE OF INDIANA
PROCLAMATION OF LOCAL DISASTER EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the Consolidated City of Indianapolis and Marion County have experienced severe storm weather, including heavy rain, tornadoes and high winds;
WHEREAS, the severe weather has caused injuries to residents and significant damage to property in the Consolidated City of Indianapolis and Marion County;
NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Indianapolis, Indiana, and as successor-in-interest to the Board of Commissioners of Marion County, Indiana, it is hereby ordered for the protection of life, health and property in the Consolidated City of Indianapolis and Marion County, as follows:
- A state of local disaster emergency exists in the Consolidated City of Indianapolis and Marion County, and that this proclamation constitutes a declaration of a local disaster emergency under Indiana Code Section 10-4-1-23, as amended.
- Law enforcement officers of the Consolidated City of Indianapolis and Marion County are hereby authorized to impose appropriate restrictions on public access to the streets and geographic areas identified in the exhibit attached hereto, in order to preserve and protect the public safety, public order and property in such areas. These restrictions shall not in any way apply to authorized police officers, firefighters, hospital or medical personnel, emergency response personnel, other public safety officers or other authorized personnel. The attached exhibit may be updated in the discretion of the Mayor.
- This proclamation shall take effect immediately and continue with full force and effect of law until 8:30 p.m., September 27, 2002, unless terminated earlier by proclamation. This proclamation may be continued or renewed with the consent of the City-County Council.
