The Education Fund of the League of Women Voters of Indianapolis
The Education Fund (Ed Fund) of the League of Women Voters of Indianapolis is a subsidiary, tax-exempt, 501 (c)(3) organization. That designation mandates that monies contributed to the Ed Fund cannot be used for advocacy for League positions on issues, but they can support voter education of various sorts. Examples of allowable expenditures: funding for candidate forums, publication of voter's guides (presenting positions of all candidates for an office), get-out-the-vote efforts, or publication of The Directory of Government Officials. The Ed Fund has a separate board, including two members who also serve on the LWV-Indianapolis Board of Directors.
Because the Unigov Handbook was initially published with grant monies, a separate Ed Fund is maintained for that publication. Proceeds of sales are deposited there, allowing LWV-Indianapolis to revise and republish the handbook as needed.
The Ed Fund President/Treasurer can be reached at the League's regular mailing address.
