Observation Project

At the annual meeting in May 2007, the Indianapolis League set a goal to have as many League members as possible attend at least one meeting of one governmental group and to report their observations on this form to the coordinating committee.

 

Pick the group you're interested in. In Marion County you have lots of choices: the City-County Council, 11 City-County Council committees, four town councils (perhaps they have committees, as well), 9 township advisory boards, 9 school boards, the Public Library Board, Health and Hospital Corporation, Airport Authority, Capital Improvements Board, Building Authority, Public Transportation Corporation. Attend one of their meetings. Watch and listen to the proceedings. Send a Report to the coordinating committee.

 

Here is information on meeting places and times for some of the local governmental groups:

 

City-County Council Committees

The committees do not have any set time for meetings but generally meet at least once a month.  Check the local government/council section of the www.indygov.org website for information on meeting times and agendas.

  • Center – 4 mandated meetings per year and there is no set schedule.  Public notice is given in the newspaper and at the government center at 863 Massachusetts Avenue.  6333610

  • Perry – 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Perry Township Govt. Center
  • Pike – 3rd Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Pike Township Govt. Center 2915801
  • Warren – 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Warren Township Govt. Center 8972071  Meetings scheduled for September 4th and 18th
  • Wayne – 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:00 pm in the Small Claims Court 2414191
