If your vehicle has been towed by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, you must obtain a release from our Auto Desk. You will need to present identification showing that you are the titled and registered owner of the vehicle. If you are not the titled owner, you must have a notarized statement from the titled owner giving you permission to obtain a release on their behalf. All release fees are paid at the Auto Desk which is located in Room E152 of Police Headquarters at 50 North Alabama Street, phone (317) 327-3472. Payment for the release may be made by either cash or check. Maps to the wrecker lots may be obtained from the Auto Desk. The Auto Desk and the wrecker lots are open 24 hours a day.

If your vehicle was impounded by an agency other than the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, you will need to contact that agency for release information.
