Downtown District officers provide uniformed field patrol and investigative services to the downtown Indianapolis area. (See .pdf map)  With its headquarters building at 25 West 9th Street, the District is staffed with approximately 75 sworn and 10 civilian employees and is under the direction of Commander Darryl Pierce.  The District covers about four square miles with a 2000 population estimate of 13,375, although daily commuters, sports, and other special events can swell the number of citizens on the district to 250,000 or more.

Downtown District relies heavily on the use of officers assigned not only to patrol vehicles, but also bicycle and foot patrol officers.  Working closely with downtown citizens and businesses, Downtown District Officers work to keep the downtown area a great place to live, work or visit.

Comments or suggestions may be sent to the Downtown District by phone at 327-6500, or by US mail at 25 West 9th Street, Indianapolis, IN  46204. If you would like to let us know about a law enforcement problem in your neighborhood, you may submit a complaint form
