East District officers provide uniformed field patrol and investigative services to the eastern area of Indianapolis. (See .pdf map) With its headquarters building at 3229 N. Shadeland Avenue, the District is staffed with approximately 210 sworn and 10 civilian employees and is under the direction of Commander Chad Knecht.  The District covers about 51 square miles with a 2000 population estimate of 152,598.
