The Pre-Applicant Recruit Program (PAR) is designed to help candidates for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department  prepare to meet the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) State Fitness Standards for entrance to the IMPD Training Academy.

In the PAR-Program, candidates will meet with certified fitness instructors and representatives from IMPD Human Resources once per month for two hours to become acquainted with the process of preparing for the physical agility testing.  Candidates will receive specific training in nutrition, injury prevention, proper footwear, hydration and instruction in proper warming-up and stretching.

At the conclusion of the educational segment, candidates will receive personal instruction on performing the vertical jump, sit-ups and push-ups according to the guidelines established by ILEA.  Monthly results will be recorded on the candidate’s log and suggestions for improvement will be provided.

The PAR-Program is available to all candidates.  It is held at the IMPD Training Academy (901 N. Post Road).  Participants should wear athletic attire.
