Our Policies

Computer Use Policy

  • Computers are available for your use within the library free of charge.
  • Patrons are welcome to use their laptops. However, Internet access from the laptops is not available.
  • There is a charge for printing of $0.35 per printed sheet, without exception. Only black & white printing is available.
  • Library staff can provide only limited instructions in computer use. Library staff cannot type or enter data for you.
  • Each computer user will have to sign a sign-up sheet and a release form.
  • The library staff may limit your use of a computer to 1 hour if there is another patron waiting. City/County employees are given a preference in computer use.
     
  • The software applications available on each computer: Microsoft Office Word XP, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat Reader Standard Edition.
  • A computer will not save any documents on a hard drive or a CD: C and CD-ROM drives are disabled.  You will have to bring a 3.5" floppy disk to save your document/search results using drive A.
  • Please note that the library does not provide the diskettes.

Internet Use Policy

  • Access to web-based e-mail and Internet browsing is arranged to aid your legal research needs and is available free of charge. The acceptable use of e-mail and Internet is the responsibility of a patron. The users are responsible for the content of all text, audio and images that he/she places over the Internet.
    Users must not use the Internet for purposes that will constitute illegal or   unethical actions, disrupt the computer network or damage the equipment.
  • Examples of inappropriate use include but are not limited to: viewing offensive web site and pornography, transmitting obscene, harassing messages and images or any threats, and reproducing copyrighted materials without an official copyright clearance.
  • The Library disclaims any liability or responsibility arising from access to or use of information obtained through its public computers and electronic resources made available for public use, or any consequences thereof.
  • The Law Library uses filtering software to insure appropriate use of the Internet by patrons. However, the Law Library does not have any software that will make transactions you will chose to conduct over the Internet safe in regards to your private information.

Computer access will be terminated for failure to follow this Policy.
