Marion County Drug Treatment & Reentry Court
There are more then 2,000 problem solving courts in the United States' and studies are demonstrating that the courts are on the verge of lasting, meaningful change within the judiciary community. Studies show that problem solving courts such as Drug Courts and Reentry Courts are successful in reducing recidivism, improving the quality of the community, and improving conditions for victims, offenders, and society as a whole.
The Marion County Drug Treatment Court (MCDTC) and Marin County Reentry Court (REC) are innovative and productive program that assist offenders with improving the overall quality of their lives. Participants in both programs are stringently monitored but no housed in the already over crowded criminal justice system.
The success of both programs is based on a comprehensive approach that involves cooperation between the presiding judge, program coordinator, case managers, local treatment providers, the public defender agency, the prosecutor's office, probation, parole, community corrections, and the Indiana Department of Correction. External motivation through incentives and sanctions are utilized to assist program participants as they move toward self sufficiency.
The goals of both programs are to assist individuals with continued abstinence and transition in a drug free life style which includes stable living conditions, employment, and enriched personal relationships.
