The Marion County Public Defender Agency will vigorously pursue equal justice by providing quality legal representation in an effective, efficient manner to indigent people of Marion County, Indiana, in all proceedings where the right to counsel has been established by law. The Agency will provide a professional work environment and maintain a culture of respect for clients, staff, and the judicial process. The Agency will enhance public value to the Marion County community by working to reduce its client base through education and the creation of and participation in programming that seeks alternative means to incarceration, that secures necessary services for individual clients and proactively identifies methods and programs that benefit Agency clients.
Office Administration: Responsible for daily operations and budget of the MCPDA.
Major Felony: Responsible for representing indigent citizens accused of A-C felonies, including death penalty cases
D Felony: Responsible for representing indigent citizens accused of D felonies.
Misdemeanor/Domestic Violence: Responsible for representing indigent citizens accused of misdemeanor or domestic violence crimes. Also oversees civil commitments, child support and Community Courts.
Juvenile: Responsible for representing young offenders on delinquency cases and indigent adults in Termination of Parental Rights and Children in Need of Services.
Appeals: Responsible for representing indigent citizens on direct appeals who have been convicted of a crime in Marion County and exercise their rights to an appeal.
Investigations: Responsible for handling investigations of all cases assigned to the MCPDA.
Sentencing: Responsible for screening and finding alternative sentencing options.
Training: Responsible for orientation training, continuing legal education, trial skills and job training, mentoring opportunities, research resources and ongoing evaluation and feedback.
Drug Court: Responsible for representing indigent citizens charged with drug related offenses in drug court.

Hourly parking can be found at the surface lot just east of N. Alabama St., which Market Square Arena used to occupy.
While there is a conveniently located parking garage directly behind our building, reasonably priced parking can also be found at the intersection of Market St. and N. New Jersey St.
