Seniors' Testimony in Trials
Prosecutor Brizzi testified in favor of a measure approved by the General Assembly, which became law July 1, 2004. The new law enables prosecutors to more effectively prosecute crimes where senior citizens are victims. Under certain circumstances, prosecutors may introduce into evidence a video tape or transcript of a victim's testimony in lieu of live testimony in court. Brizzi said, "With this law, we can use the testimony of seniors even if they're too ill or frail to come to court or too terrified to take the witness stand."
