Brizzi Files Murder Charges in Pawnshop Shooting
Suspect Allegedly Waited for Victim and His Girlfriend to Leave the Pawnshop
Indianapolis – Today Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi filed charges against Willie Clark for shooting and killing Pierre Brown on March 5th. Clark has been charged with one count of murder and one count of C felony carrying a hand gun without a license.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by police, Brown and Clark allegedly got into an argument after Brown’s car came close to hitting Clark’s while they were driving on E. 38th Street. The argument continued in parking lot of the Cash America Pawnshop at College and 38th Street.
While Brown and his girlfriend were in the pawnshop, Clark allegedly drove home retrieved his gun, and came back to the pawnshop where he waited for Brown. When Brown and his girlfriend exited the pawnshop Clark is believed to have approached them and after a short confrontation shot Brown twice in the abdomen.
“The defendant had an opportunity to walk away from the situation before anyone got hurt,” said Brizzi. “Instead he consciously escalated the level of violence by going to his home, getting his gun and laying in wait for the victim.”
Clark is scheduled to have his initial hearing on Tuesday March 13th at 2:00 in Court 6. If convicted on all charges Clark faces 73 years in prison.
