Kerry J. Forestal, Chief Deputy

Chief Deputy Forestal began his career with the Marion County Sheriff's Department as a Civil Deputy in March of 1977. He became a merit officer a year later in 1978. As Deputy Forestal he worked in the Jail for over four years and then patrolled the streets of Marion County until 1985. During his next five years his assignment was in the Narcotics Section as an undercover investigator. In 1990 Detective Forestal was loaned to the Office of the Marion County Prosecutor as a Grand Jury Investigator. He was promoted to sergeant during this four year assignment . The now Sgt. Forestal returned to the MCSD and was assigned to the White Collar Crime Unit and then several years later to the Burglary Section with a promotion to a lieutenant. In 2000, Lt. Forestal was promoted to the rank of Captain and placed as the Commander over the Property Crimes Investigations Section within the Investigation Division. In this assignment, Captain Forestal oversaw the investigations of Auto Theft, Burglary, Theft, Fraud and Forgery as well as the evidence technicians. In 2003, after the election of Sheriff Anderson, the Sheriff appointed Captain Forestal to the position of Colonel. In 2007, Sheriff Anderson re-appointed Colonel Forestal as Chief Deputy, the position he holds today.
