Overview of Online Mapping Applications

Crime View Community Application

The Crime View Community application allows citizens to view a map of crime locations in a specific area of Marion County.  The data is based on incident reports and comes from both IPD and the Marion County Sheriff's Department.  The data is generalized to the hundred block to protect the victims and is symbolized to depict different incident categories.  This application replaced the former Law Enforcement Incident Viewer application.

Designated City Snow Routes

This web application was designed to help residents and visitors decide upon their routes before traveling during snowy weather by showing which streets are priorities during any given snow fight.

Economic Development Portal

The Economic Development Portal allows users to search for commercially available property in Marion County.  A form is displayed that allows the user to select search criteria.  The application returns all records that match the criteria and displays a map.  From this the user can get more detailed property information including business and demographic reports based on the selected property.  A secured portion of the website allows brokers to enter and maintain properties.

Family Guide to Public Schools in Indianapolis

The Family Guide to Public Schools in Indianapolis allows users to get more information about public schools choices in Marion County.  Users can find out what schools they are geographically assigned to, what magnet/choice programs are available to them, and what charter school options are available.  Users may also search for a specific school and get more detailed information about it including a school description and links to State performance data.

General Viewer

This is a map centric application that allows users to view Indianapolis/Marion County data.  Users can perform many functions including an address or intersection search, printing maps, or viewing different layers of information.  Many layers are available including streets, parcels, parks, political boundaries, sanitary and storm sewers, and aerial photography.

Government Profile

After entering an address, the Government Profile application gives Marion County citizens information on the politicians who represent them.  The application also links to contact information for elected officials, and other pertinent information associated with that address. 

IndyGo Route Maps

The IndyGo Routes application displays the bus routes for IndyGo.  The application shows a system wide map as well as maps for the individual routes.

Polling Place Locator

The Polling Place Locator determines where Marion County citizens vote based on an address entered.  If the citizen enters an optional birth date, the application will also verify whether or not the citizen is registered to vote at the address entered.

Registered Organization Database

The Registered Community Organization Database is an online application that allows users to search for registered community organizations in Marion County.  The user has many selection possibilities available including township search, keyword search, and searching based on an address.  The application returns a list of community organizations that meets the search criteria.  If desired, the user can map one or more organizations.

Vacant House Inventory

The Vacant House Inventory allows users to query and view the vacant housing inventory, search for information on specific vacant houses or view summarized information about the inventory.

Wellfield Locator

The Wellfield Locator is a map centric application that allows users to enter a Marion County address and determine if the property falls within a one-year time of travel wellfield zone, a five-year time of travel wellfield zone, or no wellfield zone.  If the property falls within a one or five year time of travel wellfield zone, links are available to additional forms that are required during the permitting process.

Zoning Browser

The Zoning Browser contains a wealth of zoning related information about a particular parcel in Marion County.  The user enters an address, parcel number, or searches for a property from a map.  Once a parcel is selected the application returns information about the property including, but not limited to, the primary and secondary zoning, rezoning, variances (if available online), whether or not the property is in a flood zone, historic preservation district, on the National Register, or in the Regional Center.  The application also gives Barrett Law information for the property if applicable.
