Absentee Voting
If you are a registered voter, you may vote by absentee ballot in the Marion County Clerk's Office.
To absentee vote by mail, you can request an application from the Marion County Election Board or download an Application for Absentee Ballot online up to 90 days before an election. When you have completed and returned the application, a ballot will be mailed to you once they are legally available. The qualifications for receiving an absentee ballot by mail are:
- I am unable to get to the polls because I am confined or are a caretaker for a confined voter.
- I have election day duties in a precinct other than my own.
- I am 65 years or older.
- I expect to be absent from the county on election day.
- I am a voter with disabilities.
- I am an absent uniformed services voter or an overseas voter.
- I am scheduled to work at my regular place of employment during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.
The Election Board must receive applications to cast an absentee ballot by mail by midnight the Monday of the week before the election.
To absentee vote by traveling board, you must request an absentee ballot application from the Marion County Election Board and choose Option "C." Upon receipt of your application, the Election Board will contact you to schedule a time for the traveling board to visit your residence.
To absentee vote in the Clerk's office, come to the City-County Building during established hours at least 29 days before the election. You will fill out an application in person before you vote.
