Appeals
In order for an appeal on a Marion County case to proceed, a copy of the appellant's Notice of Appeal must be filed with both the Marion County Clerk and the Indiana State Court of Appeals.
An appeal will not progress until the Notice of Appeal is filed with the State of Indiana Court of Appeals Clerk and their required $250 filing fee is paid. This should be filed with their agency as soon as possible. The Court of Appeals will not file our Notice of Completion of Clerk's Record until their filing fee has been paid.
A complete copy of our trial court record is no longer required to be prepared for submission to the Indiana Court of Appeals. Counsel will provide from counsel's file any copies necessary for the Court of Appeals to adequately review the trial court record. The Clerk will simply assemble the original trial court record accordingly.
If the person filing the appeal requires copies of any portion of the trial court file, it should be requested within the Notice of Appeal. The Clerk will provide copies along with the Notice of Completion of Clerk's Record within thirty (30) days of the filing of the Notice of Appeal. The fee for copies is the standard $1 per page.
