Homeowner Property Tax Deduction Filing

Filing Deadline for 2007 is Monday, June 12, 2006

The Marion County Auditor encourages all Marion County homeowners who have purchased or refinanced their residences prior to March 1, 2006 to file for property tax deductions.

 This year's official filing deadline is Saturday, June 10th, therefore all deductions will be accepted through Monday, June 12, 2006.

If you are a new owner, filed a deed, or re-financed your mortgage between March 2, 2005 and March 1, 2006 you may need to file for Homestead and Mortgage property tax deductions.

Homeowners can call the Marion County Auditor's Office for information regarding various deductions available to those who meet eligibility requirements, which include:

  • Homestead Deduction/Credit
  • Mortgage Deduction
  • Deduction for Persons Over Age 65 or Surviving Spouses
  • Deduction for Blind or Disabled
  • Deduction for Totally Disabled Veterans, or Veterans with Partial Disability in Wartime, World War I Veterans or Surviving Spouses

Deduction forms can also be filed in the Real Estate Office, Room 841 of the City-County Building, or online.

Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
