Councillor Jackie Nytes gets appointed to the National Performance Management Advisory Commission.

Indianapolis - Councillor Nytes (District 9) has been appointed by the National League of Cities (NLC) to the Performance Management Advisory Commission in March of 2008.  The Commission was established in February, 2008 and will have its first full meeting on Monday June 30, 2008.

Councillor Nytes said, "It is quite an honor that NLC recognizes that Indianapolis has something to contribute to this work, and it is a great opportunity for me to acquire additional insight that I can bring to the High Performance Government Team here at home as it begins its work this summer."

The National Performance Management Advisory Commission is a joint effort of 11 leading public interest associations to develop a comprehensive, conceptual framework for public sector performance management.  Performance management has increasingly become a standard practice among state and local governments, although no commonly accepted framework or guidelines exist.

The Commission is made up of elected and appointed public officials representing the sponsoring organizations as well as leaders in the fields of Management, Research, and Academia.  The Commission is expected to complete its work within the next two years, during which it will identify critical issues and solicit feedback from government practitioners and other interested parties, and then provide a public review draft and a final version of the framework.
