Proposal on Jobs To Get Consideration in Committee
Indianapolis - The Council's Rules and Public Policy Committee will consider a proposal, sponsored by Councillor Isaac Randolph, that will allow underemployed, unemployed and previously incarcerated individuals, an opportunity to receive training and employment with the city/county and its vendors.
When: Tuesday, September 19, 2006, 5:30 p.m.
Where: City-County Building, Room 260, 200 E. Washington Street
Councillor Randolph said, "In August 2005 I pledged to work and find job employment opportunities for ex-offenders, and I'm pleased to say we've made great strides in this bi-partisan process. This is the first step for many men and women who have served their time and need a second chance to be contributing members of our society. This ordinance is another crime prevention tool for the City of Indianapolis and Marion County in the battle to keep our neighborhoods and children safe."
The proposal, Proposal No. 427, 2006, amends the Code with respect to training and employment opportunities for the underemployed, unemployed and for persons who have been previously incarcerated or suffered a felony conviction.
A copy of the entire proposal can be viewed here.
