Brian Mahern was elected to his first term on the Council in November 2007. Brian represents District 16, which covers the Near East and Southeast sides of Indianapolis. Brian is proud to serve the area he grew up in. He and his wife Kathryn are raising their two children, Caroline and Joe, as seventh generation Near Eastside residents.
On the Council Brian is concentrating his efforts on improving the quality of life in the 16th District. His priorities include reducing the number of abandoned and vacant homes and making improvements in public safety, sidewalks and street infrastructure. He currently serves as a member of the Economic Development and Community Affairs committees of the Council.
Brian graduated from Holy Cross Grade School, Scecina Memorial High School and Indiana University - Bloomington. Brian works for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission as a Policy Analyst. Brian and his family are members of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
