eCycle

Electronics contain hazardous materials such as lead and mercury.  These materials, if buried in a landfill, can contaminate groundwater and can potentially cause serious health issues. In Marion County, residents can eCycle - the recycling of electronic waste (eScrap) - by dropping off old electronics like cell phones and computers at any of the city's ToxDrop locations.

ToxDrop will accept all cell phones, computers and computer-related equipment. However, other electronic items like televisions and stereos are only collected at special eScrap events.  Please check this Web page often for times and locations of special events.

Once collected, the entire computer and its components are broken down into individual materials such as plastics, metals, glass and precious metals and recycled.

ToxDrop Locations and Hours of Operation
1. Materials may be dropped off on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 and 11 a.m. at our Belmont Avenue Collection Facility at 2700 S. Belmont Ave. map

2. Materials may be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Trader's Point collection Facility at 7550 N. Lafayette Rd. map

3. Materials may be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturday of each month at the IMPD Training Facility (located near Superior 13) at 9049 E. 10th St. map

4. Materials may be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturday of each month at the Perry Township Government Center at 4925 Shelby St. map

The ToxDrop sites are closed on any fifth Saturday and some holidays. The act of improperly disposing of household hazardous waste (HHW) and eScrap items, including leaving them at the ToxDrop sites outside of the noted hours of operation, is considered illegal dumping.

Special Events
Throughout the year, ToxDrop sponsors or partners with community organizations to host ToxAway and/or eScrap events as the budget allows. The largest event is held in conjunction with the Earth Day Indiana festival in April.
