Traffic Signs & Signals

The DPW sign shop will manufacture approximately 17,000 signs to meet expected demand and to satisfy contracts for sale to other jurisdictions.  DPW will install or replace approximately 16,000 signs to maintain traffic safety and guide motorists throughout the City. DPW will install and maintain approximately 2,000 downtown promotional banners for special events.
   Typical Sign Installation
The Traffic Signal Operations Unit will conduct 900 controller and cabinet preventive maintenance checks.  Approximately 75 new solid-state controllers and cabinets will be installed to replace aging electro-mechanical units to ensure traffic safety, and an additional 50 new controllers will be tested and installed.  Approximately 1,000 signal-timing adjustments will be made to ensure traffic flow along major traffic corridors.

To report an emergency regarding traffic signals, contact the Mayor's Action Center (MAC) at 327-4MAC (327-4622) and Press 3 to report traffic signal problems or missing signs.   "Blackouts", where the whole signal is not working, will be sent to the Traffic Signal Technicians for immediate repair. If your report is not an emergency, please fill out the online form.
