INDIANAPOLIS RESTRICTION UPDATE
INDIANAPOLIS – The following restrictions and road closures are current or upcoming for the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Many restrictions listed below are dependent upon favorable weather conditions.
NEW RESTRICTIONS
• U.S. 31/East Street northbound ramp to I-465 westbound may be closed for short periods while crews pour portions of the bridge deck.
Date: Saturday, November 7, 2009
Time: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
• I-65 northbound between Keystone Avenue and Southern Avenue may have two lanes closed while crews place new dynamic message sign supports. Total intermittent closures may happen for 20 minutes at a time to install the sign overhead. Stay alert for changing traffic patterns.

ACCELERATE 465 RESTRICTIONS
• I-465 northbound ramp to U.S. 40/West Washington Street will be closed while pavement connections are completed.

• U.S. 40/West Washington Street ramp to I-465 southbound will be closed while pavement connections are completed.

• I-465 southbound ramp to 10th Street will be closed while pavement connections are completed.

• Beechway Drive between Rockville Road and West 10th Street will be closed to through traffic for road rebuilding. Local access will be maintained with most businesses being accessible from Rockville Road.

• I-465 loop ramps at U.S. 40/West Washington Street will be closed to allow contractors to shift I-465 toward the center median. The traffic pattern will operate like a diamond interchange, with traffic signals on either end of the I-465 bridge.

• I-465 between Sam Jones Expressway and I-74 on the west side will be shifted towards the median as pavement work begins on outside lanes. Three lanes will remain open during rush hours. Overnight and on weekends, up to two lanes may closed in each direction for road construction. Total intermittent closures may happen for 20 minutes at a time near bridges to remove beams over I-465. Stay alert for changing traffic patterns.
Date: Monday, April 20 – Fall 2010
Time: 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. each night, continuous on weekends
• West 10th Street will be restricted to two narrow lanes in each direction while contractors rebuild the bridge in two phases. The old loop ramps will be temporarily closed and the traffic pattern will operate like a diamond interchange, with traffic signals on either end of the I-465 bridge.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED RESTRICTIONS
• U.S. 31/East Street between Thompson Road and Mill Street will be restricted using a movable barrier wall while the bridge over I-465 is demolished and reconstructed in two phases. During morning rush hour, there will be two lanes northbound and one lane southbound. In the evening, there will be two lanes southbound and one lane northbound. Stay alert for changing traffic patterns. Total night time intermittent closures may happen for 20 minutes at a time to remove or place beams over I-465.

• S.R. 32, between U.S. 31 and Spring Mill Road in Westfield, will be shifted and will be restricted to narrow lanes while crews widen the road and install new sewer lines.

• S.R. 32 at Grassy Branch/Carey Roads will be restricted with narrow travel lanes and intermittent flagging for road widening and reconstruction.

• Pendleton Pike (U.S. 36/S.R. 67), from I-465 to just east of Post Road, will be restricted to two narrow lanes in each direction with no dedicated turn lanes while crews widen the road and install new water and sewer lines.

• U.S. 40/East Washington Street from Post Road to the eastern edge of Cumberland is restricted to one lane in each direction due to road reconstruction.

• S.R. 44, from I-74 to near SR 9 in Shelbyville, will be restricted for utility relocation and road construction. At various worksites, traffic may be restricted to one lane in each direction on one side of the road.

• S.R. 44, near the Johnson/Shelby County line, will be closed for bridge replacement. The detour follows I-65, I-465 and I-74.

• U.S. 52/Main Street through downtown New Palestine will have one lane closures while finishing work is completed. Flaggers will direct traffic as necessary. Stay alert for changing traffic patterns.

• I-465 at U.S. 31/East Street may experience overnight and weekend lane closures while the U.S. 31/East Street bridge overhead is demolished and reconstructed in two phases. Total night time intermittent closures may happen for 20 minutes at a time to remove beams over I-465.
