Hand Collection

Those households that have their trash collected by hand are allowed up to ten (10) bags/containers of acceptable trash per week.

DPW crew member at the back of a trash truck Please put your trash in proper containers:
Place all trash in bags. Trash can 'get loose'
when it is emptied into the truck.    Standard
plastic trash bags, leaving enough room above
the bag's closure so the hauler can pick up
the bag without it being damaged.

Metal or plastic trash cans (5 to 32 gallon capacity)
    with handles and lids.

Trash carts (a giant trash container with
wheels) can be used. Each cart counts as three
containers toward your ten container limit.

Item specific guidelines for the ten (10) bag/container program:
Shrubbery cuttings. Tie small limbs and twigs in bundles no larger than 3 feet by 3
feet. Each bundle counts as one bag/container.
*  During the annual leaf collection period, you can leave up to 30 bags of leaves a
week that should be separated from the usual trash pickup.
Empty boxes. Flatten and tie them into bundles no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet.
Each bundle counts as one bag/container.
Vehicle tires. Tires without rims count as one item of trash. Tires with rims count as
one item of heavy trash and can only be collected on your heavy trash day.
Heavy trash collection has its own specific schedule. Click here to find out
when it's collected at your home.

Please be sure to leave only accepted trash items out on the curb for pick-up to help keep our city clean and healthy. If legally unacceptable items are left for pickup, a DPW informational tag will notify you how to meet the pickup requirements in both English and Spanish.
