Sewer Locates

If you are a contractor, homeowner, or business and are preparing to dig anywhere on your property, you are required by state statute to request a utility locate two days before digging. The city of Indianapolis is a member of the Indiana Underground Plant Protection Service (IUPPS) and all utility locate requests should be made through IUPPS at (800)-382-5544.

Once a locate request is received by the city, we will review our records to determine if there is underground infrastructure in the area of the aniticipated work. If the potential for damage to city infrastructure exists, a customer service representative will respond and mark the location of any underground facilities. This service is simple and FREE and can prevent  thousands of dollars in infrastructure repair costs.
