City Implements Special Trash Route to Assist Residents in Disposal of Storm Damage Debris Front Porch Alliance calls upon Faith and Community Based Organizations to help
INDIANAPOLIS – The Department of Public Works will initiate a special route to pick up “wooded debris” caused by this past Friday’s storm beginning Tuesday, June 3, 2008. The city will also place four dumpsters in the lot at the southwest corner of 38th St. and Mitthoefer Rd. to assist residents in the disposal of other storm debris materials. The special storm route and dumpster availability will not interfere with regular trash collection and will continue through June 13th, 2008.
The route will encompass the 2.5 mile area most affected by the storm including streets bounded by 38th St. to the south, 42nd St. to the north, Post Rd. to the west and German Church Rd. to the east.
Affected residents may contact the Mayor’s Action Center at 327-4622 for more detailed information.
More assistance is also needed.
The Front Porch Alliance is encouraging Faith and Community Based Organizations who would like to help to visit www.helpmarioncounty.org if they want to assist by donating items or ‘adopting a family.’ The Red Cross estimates that 350 families will need assistance over the next few weeks ranging from clean up help to food and/or clothing.
Families in need of storm assistance should contact the Red Cross at (317) 684-1441 or visit the CAFÉ Center at 38th and Post Rd. to register.
