INDIANAPOLIS – The Mayor's Advisory Council on Disability Affairs announced today that nominations for the annual Access and Inclusion Awards have been opened.

The Access and Inclusion Awards recognize individuals and organizations that support diversity and the inclusion of persons with disabilities in Indianapolis. Nomination applications must be received by Friday, June 22, 2007. Winners will be announced at the 2007 Awareness Day and Awards Ceremony on July 16, 2007.

"Recognizing those that have committed themselves to diversity and inclusion in our community is a great occasion to raise community awareness of increasing access to employment and other activities for persons with disabilities," said Mayor Bart Peterson.

There are three awards that individuals, businesses and organizations can be nominated for:

The 2006 award winner was the late David Scott.

In 2006, the Accessibility Award winner was Karen Russo with Power Soccer of Indy. A certificate of recognition was also presented to the Indianapolis Business Leadership Network and the Indianapolis Private Industry Council.
