City prepares for winter with mock snow fight
INDIANAPOLIS - The city's winter preparedness culminates today with a mock snow fight. The Department of Public Works (DPW) will test snow fighting equipment and "snowfighter" software as well as run selected routes within the city.

DPW prepares year round to handle the onslaught of winter weather. Effective snow and ice control planning includes, but is not limited to, updating policies, procedures and routes; inspecting and repairing equipment; training drivers and laborers; ensuring an adequate salt supply; and coordinating efforts with school transportation officials.
As always, DPW is ready to face any and all challenges Mother Nature sends Indianapolis for the 2006-2007 snow season.
