Public Works to beautify Washington St. Corridor

NDIANAPOLIS - On Saturday, August 13, the Department of Public Works will be hosting its first neighborhood beautification day under the recently announced Latino outreach initiative from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

Neighborhoods bounded by Belmont, Ohio, Jackson and Warman streets will be the focus for this first event. Volunteers are asked to meet at Hawthorne Park located at the corner of Washington and Mount streets. Garbage bags, gloves and water will be provided by Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.

During the clean-up, dumpsters will be strategically located throughout the targeted area where bagged trash and heavy trash items will be accepted. In addition, bilingual DPW representatives will canvas the area and distribute Spanish-language materials to further educate and empower the Latino community on accessing available DPW services and resources.

Sponsors for this initiative include Waste Management, Bella Magazine, Imagen Telecom and the Mayor’s Commission on Latino Affairs. Please visit www.IndyGov.org/DPW for additional information, including event flyers and a map of the targeted clean-up area.
