Binford Boulevard/Fall Creek Parkway Corridor construction project to resume Monday after rush hour
Traffic restricted to two northbound, southbound lanes
INDIANAPOLIS - The City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works will resume construction on the final phase of the Binford Boulevard/Fall Creek Parkway corridor from 38th Street to north of 46th Street starting after the morning rush hour Monday, August 23.
Motorists will see minor lane restrictions immediately, with more significant restrictions taking place by September 1. Traffic again will be restricted to two northbound and two southbound lanes while mainline paving is completed on the middle lane.
The final phase traffic changeover is scheduled for early September. At this time, traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes from 38th Street to north of 46th Street for patching and paving of the northbound lanes. The median north of Keystone Avenue also will be reconstructed during this time.
Traffic has been restricted along the Binford Boulevard/Fall Creek Parkway corridor throughout the summer as crews continued construction on the 7 million-dollar project which began last year. The project is funded using Federal and State money provided when the State of Indiana relinquished this stretch of roadway to the city.
Other major improvements in the project area include additional left turn lanes at Keystone Avenue, Kessler Avenue and 75th Street, with increased left turn storage capacity at several additional locations and signal changes throughout the corridor.
The overall project will be completed in Fall 2004.
