Mainline paving on Binford north of 46th to begin Monday
Traffic restricted to one lane in each direction through mid-June
INDIANAPOLIS –The City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works will begin laying the final asphalt surface on Binford Boulevard north of 46th Street starting Monday, May 17th. As a result, traffic between 75th Street and 46th Street will be restricted to one lane in each direction through June 18th. The initial restriction will occur approximately 9:00 a.m. on the 17th.
Traffic is already restricted to one lane in each direction between 46th Street and Keystone Avenue, and two lanes in each direction between Keystone Avenue and 38th Street while drainage, curb and sidewalk work continue.
Other major improvements in the project area include additional left turn lanes at Keystone Ave., Kessler Ave., and 75th Street, with increased left turn storage capacity at several additional locations and signal changes throughout the corridor.
Construction on the 7 million-dollar project started last year and is funded using Federal and State money provided when the State of Indiana relinquished this stretch of roadway to the city. The overall project completion date is September 2004.
