City of Indianapolis, United Water award $63,000 in grants to local not-for-profits
Organizations improving Indianapolis, environment to benefit from program
INDIANAPOLIS –The City of Indianapolis, Department of Public Works (DPW), and United Water presented checks totaling $63,000 as part of the Community Relations/Environmental Grant (CREG) Program today at the Irvington Branch of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library.
Not-for-profit community organizations applying for grants must show a commitment to improving the City of Indianapolis, the environment, fostering economic and community development, diversity and education in order to receive money through the program.
The CREG Program was established in 1994 through the United Water and City of Indianapolis Partnership. The program is funded by United Water as a commitment set forth in its contract to run the city's two Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plants and the storm and wastewater collection systems.
"The program affords the department a chance to continue to make a difference in Indianapolis neighborhoods, strengthen families and children, and build a world class-city, neighborhood by neighborhood," said Jim Garrard, DPW Director. "We congratulate all of today's grant award winners and look forward to remaining an active and integral part of this important program."
Since 1994, the partnership has returned $1,800,000 to more than 40 organizations in the community.
