Residential trash collection delayed one day next week

INDIANAPOLIS–There will be no residential trash or recycling collection in the City of Indianapolis Monday, January 19, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. As a result, trash and recycling will be collected one day later than usual for the remainder of the week.

Trash and recycling normally collected on Monday will be picked up Tuesday, Tuesday's collection will be completed Wednesday, and so on, with Friday routes completed Saturday, January 24.

Collection of residential trash and recycling will return to normal schedules Monday, January 26.

Trash collection on Indianapolis routes continues as normal every day of this year except two. There is no collection on the following days:

  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Monday, January 19, 2004
  • Thanksgiving Day, Thursday - November 25, 2004

The collection schedule may also be delayed due to heavy snow or extreme cold during the winter months.
