Project Open Market: Construction Costs and Timeline

The project is expected to cost at least $20 million. The first $10 million is provided by the federal government. The remaining is split at an 80/20 ratio – with 8 out of 10 dollars coming from the federal government and the city of Indianapolis providing the remaining 2.

 

Current Construction Schedule


Phase I - Spring/Summer 2008
Ohio Street ramp closed (February 2008)
Construct new southbound I-65/I-70 entrance ramp (Summer 2008)
Fletcher Avenue southbound exit ramp widening (Spring/Summer 2008)


Phase II - Fall 2008
Widen Washington Street and relocate Southeastern Avenue intersection
(Fall 2008)


Phase III – Fall 2008
Temporarily close existing northbound exit ramp from I-65/I-70 (Fall 2008)
Construct new northbound exit ramp from I-65/I-70 (Fall 2008)


Phase IV – Winter 2008 to Spring/Summer 2009
Close and remove Market Street exit ramp (Winter 2008-2009)
Close and remove Market Street entrance ramp (Winter 2008-2009)
Construct infrastructure along Market Street, Davidson Street and Pine Street
(Spring/Summer 2009)


Project completion - Fall 2009
