The Department of Public Works will install a 6.5 mile underground sewer linking Indianapolis' two wastewater treatment plants. When complete, the sewer will enable the city to better manage flows between the Belmont and Southport advanced wastewater treatment plants and prevent sewer overflows into the White River near Southern Avenue.  The entire project will be constructed through tunneling, which will minimize impacts on property owners, businesses and neighborhoods.

The project design is expected to be completed in the spring of 2008 and construction is expected to begin in the fall. Public meetings will be held at each of these milestones to provide project updates and allow residents to ask specific questions.

If you missed any of the previously held public meetings, the materials that were distributed have been posted on the right. You may also contact John Morgan at 327-8053 or jmorgan@indygov.org with any questions or comments.
