Public Outreach
The services offered by the Indianapolis Department of Public Works impact the daily lives of residents and visitors of Indianapolis and Marion County. That's why it is important to us to provide basic information so that the public can learn more about who we are and what we do. |
Our television show, "DPW: Keeping Indianapolis Running," is broadcast on Brighthouse cable channel 17 and Comcast cable channel 28. Each show will include segments that highlight an issue related to our four broad service categories – water quality, transportation, operations and the environment.
The World Wide Web is another medium that we use to convey our message. And we've developed a number of brochures to share specific information with the public about DPW services. For your convenience, these brochures may be downloaded from our website. |
We also want to work closely with the community on the many projects we undertake each year. Typically, this involves seeking input during the initial planning stages of major projects and conducting additional meetings during the preliminary and final engineering designs. Our neighborhood coordinator works closely with the Engineering Division to organize and facilitate all DPW public meetings.
DPW participates in numerous community events such as Earth Day Indiana, IMPD Community Days and Indiana Black Expo to promote our services. |
Finally, we can provide representatives to speak to your organizations, offer assistance to groups interested in environmental education and tell you how to adopt and maintain a stream or roadway median strip. Please call (317) 327-4000 for more information.
As you can see, DPW values and welcomes public input. If you need to report a problem or have a question or concern, please contact the Mayor's Action Center at 327-4MAC (4622).
