Civilian EMS Division

      In addition to sworn suppression, the  Indianapolis Fire Department has ambulances that are staffed by Civilian Employees of the Fire Department.  We employ EMT's and Paramedics.

     In order to apply for a civilian EMT or Paramedic position with IFD you must have all the necessary State of Indiana Certifications.  Unlike the suppression side, we do not hire and then train.  In the state of Indiana you must be 18 years old to take the State Certification Exam.

Experience is helpful but not required.
