LT. JERRY BIPPUS OF INDIANAPOLIS ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL HONORED AS 2009 HOOSIER OF THE YEAR
Each year the Indiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) hands out the Hoosier of the Year award to residents of Indiana who exhibit a selfless dedication to improving the lives of mistreated and abused animals in Indiana.
The Hoosier of the Year Award honors Hoosiers for outstanding service to improve animal welfare in Indianapolis and throughout the state. The Hoosier of the Year is dedicated to those who improve and enrich the lives of animals.
This year, Lt. Jerry Bippus, from Indianapolis Animal Care and Control was chosen as a Hoosier of the Year for 2009 along with five other candidates representing the state of Indiana:
Greg Ballard, Mayor of Indianapolis
State Representative Linda Lawson
Councilor Angela Mansfield, City of Indianapolis and Marion County
Kenneth J. Falk, ACLU - Indiana
Susan Guyett, Journalist
Lt. Bippus was honored with this award because he was one of the person’s key to fighting against cruelty to animal in Indiana. The Hoosier of the Year award was delivered to Lt. Bippus during the Annual Banquet Event held in Indianapolis at the Downtown Marriot hotel.
