Shelter offering free seminars to prevent pet relinquishment

INDIANAPOLIS – In the shelter’s continuing effort to provide valuable services to the community, Indianapolis Animal Care & Control is offering “1st Thursdays.”   “1st Thursdays” is a free one-hour seminar designed to help you develop that perfect canine connection with your pet and to answer all of your questions regarding problem canine behaviors, dog training and even people training.  The more we understand our pet, the more successful our pet can be!

WHEN:   1st Thursday of every month
(with the exception of January due to New Year’s Day – to be held January 8th)
6:30-7:30pm

WHERE:   Indianapolis Animal Care & Control
2600 S. Harding St.

The goal of this training is to keep people and their pets together and help owners fix common, resolvable problems that are threatening the relationship with their pet.   Relinquishment of a pet is a drastic step that many people take in dealing with behavior problems.

According to the National Council on Pet Overpopulation Study & Policy, behavior is one of the top 10 reasons for pet relinquishment to shelters in the United States.  A national household survey served as a control group for the relinquishment study to help indicate which characteristics of animals and humans were significant risk factors for failed human/animal relationships.

1st Thursday is presented by Warren G. Patitz. Warren brings his expertise and over 20 years experience to each free seminar.
