INDIANAPOLIS – Last year, the city’s largest animals shelters, Indianapolis Animal Care & Control (ACC) and the Humane Society of Indianapolis (HSI), collectively took in more than 30,000 lost, homeless and unwanted animals. The shelters have been collaborating on various ways to raise the awareness of important social issues, including the societal benefits of spaying and neutering your pet.
“Indianapolis faces a staggering pet overpopulation problem,” Mayor Bart Peterson said. “One way residents can do their part is by having their pets spayed or neutered.”
In keeping with the collective effort to promote responsible pet ownership, Mayor Peterson will proclaim February 25, 2003 as “Spay Day” in Indianapolis. Please join Jim Garrard, ACC administrator, Martha Boden, HSI executive director, and Kathy Able with Spay-Neuter Services Indiana as they talk about the importance of spaying or neutering pets.
WHEN: Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 25th10am WHERE: Humane Society of Indianapolis, Learning Center7929 N. Michigan Rd.
Indianapolis residents are called to action to participate in Spay Day:
Spay Day, a national campaign created in 1995 by the Doris Day Animal Foundation, is America’s premier national day of action to promote the spaying or neutering of companion animals.
