New Animal Care and Control website includes pets online

INDIANAPOLIS – In an effort to improve service to the community and give the public a more comprehensive view of animal welfare issues, Director of Public Safety Robert Turner along with Administrator Jim Garrard announce that Animal Care & Control has enhanced its website.

The website includes the following new links:

  • Pets Available for Adoption - Includes descriptions and pictures of adoptable animals.
  • Volunteer Opportunities - Lists volunteer opportunities with the ability to download a volunteer application.
  • Donations - Discusses monetary donations and items on Animal Care & Control’s “Wish List”.
  • Ordinance – Contains a complete listing of the revised code of the Consolidated City and County Indianapolis/Marion, Indiana codified through Ord. No. 103, August 28, 2000.

“Animal Care & Control has partnered with Petfinders.com to promote our homeless pets, and the response has truly been amazing,” said Administrator Jim Garrard. “This site has given people, locally and nationwide, the opportunity to view our pets available for adoption.”

Since June 6, when the pets were first featured online at www.petfinders.com and www.indygov.org/accd, Animal Care & Control animals have been viewed over 6,800 times.

The website also includes revisions of the “FAQ” and “Feedback” links by adding additional information making the links more accurate, useful, and user-friendly.
