Surrender an Animal

Indianapolis Animal Care & Control accepts stray and owner-surrenedered animals from members of the community.  Animals can be dropped off at the shelter during normal business hours only.  You must present current identification in order to surrender any animal.

Please drive around the building to the area marked Animal Drop Off where a member of our staff will assist you.  Please ensure your animal is secured by a leash or enclosed in a carrier.

Every animal that is surrenedered to the shelter is evaluated for its health and behavior for our adoption kennels.  Though we cannot guarantee that an animal will make it to the adoption floor, every effort is made to find a rescue organization or foster home to help place the animal.
