GARFIELD PARK ARTS CENTER
Now Open!
Originally built in 1922 as a Shelter House, the renovated structure "at the top of the hill" is now the new Garfield Park Arts Center! The center engages Indianapolis residents in the arts by providing programs and instruction in a variety of mediums, including the performing, visual, production, and literary arts.
The Arts Center also features ongoing exhibits from national and local artists, tying together culture, diversity and community at the grassroots level.
MACALLISTER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
The MacAllister Center for the Performing Arts, is an outdoor amphitheater that was built in 1922. In 1997 the amphitheater was renovated and given its current name, honoring local philanthropist Mr. P.E. MacAllister.
Each year, the amphitheater presents the Indy Parks Performing Arts Festival. This festival showcases local musical groups, theatre, and dance all summer long in the Pops Concert Series; Eclectic Music Series; the patriotic concert and fireworks display: America We Remember; dance performances; a month long theatre season; and other special events.
