Fishing is allowed in Eagle Creek Reservoir and Lilly Lake - all Indiana state fishing regulations are enforced. Please visit the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for information on obtaining a fishing license and current fishing regulations.
Can I bring my boat to Eagle Creek Park?
Boats must be 8 ft. Minimum, 26 ft. Maximum, with a 10 hp motor limit. Small canoes and kayaks can launch from the old boat ramp at the back of the Earth Discovery Center parking lot (must be portaged down the ramp, no vehicles). There is a $3 car top boat launch fee per boat at the gate in addition to the regular vehicle admission fee. Boats with trailers must launch from the 42nd St. Boat Ramp (on Dandy Trail, south of the Eagle Creek 56th Gatehouse). There is a $5 daily launch fee, or yearly passes are available from the Park Office, M-F 9am-5pm. Contact the office as well for more information about mooring rentals and winter boat storage at Eagle Creek.
Can I bring my dog to the park?
Yes! Dogs must be on leash except at the Gilmore Canine Companion Zone. Please bring baggies to clean up after your dog - the reservoir and other hikers thank you!
Are there really eagles at Eagle Creek Park?
Yes! Bald eagles are often seen flying overhead, catching fish or waterfowl in Eagle Creek Reservoir, or perched in trees along the shoreline. Generally there are 1 to 4 bald eagles in the area, although they head further south if the reservoir freezes solid in the winter. Good spots to watch for eagles include the Eagle Creek Ornithology Center, Marina, and anywhere you can get a wide view of the sky and shoreline along Eagle Creek Reservoir.
Can I have my wedding/shower/reunion at Eagle Creek Park?
Eagle Creek is a beautiful location for a wedding or family event! Indoor options include Eagle's Crest and Eagle's Hideaway Wooded Retreat Facilities - these are also our only two facilities where alcohol is allowed (permits required). For outdoor weddings the park has numerous shelters that can be rented - please keep in mind that alcohol and amplified or loud music is not allowed in the main park for private rentals. For more information on our rental facilities, please visit the Eagle Creek Park Foundation Guide or call the park office at 317-327-7110.
Can I take my wedding/graduation/portrait/etc. photos at Eagle Creek Park?
Yes, as long as you are taking photos yourself for your own personal use. Professional photography sessions require a Photo Shoot Permit, which must be obtained and paid for in advance from the Administrative Office (317-327-7110 M-F).
Can I teach classes at the park?
It depends. If would like to offer a class or program to the general public and are charging a fee, you will need to check with the park office or park manager first. Most outside classes or programs require a Vendor Fee and approved Vendor Agreement with the park.
Can I fly a drone at the park?
Drones are not permitted on Eagle Creek Park property.
