Indianapolis is a great place to live! City parks and greenways are a vital part of the Indianapolis experience. Over 10,500 acres of Indianapolis Parks and additional acres of Indianapolis Greenways offer a range of recreation opportunities. For those who just want to enjoy the outdoors, whether it's hiking or birdwatching, Indy Parks has the resources for you!
NATURAL RESOURCE AREAS
Indy Parks has several properties that are left natural for the enjoyment of those who appreciate the environment. Nature preserves, bird sanctuaries and wetlands are protected to ensure you can always get back to nature.
LAND STEWARDSHIP
The Land Stewardship Section of Indy Parks coordinates activities that protect the natural assets of Indianapolis parks for people and wildlife.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Want to learn more about the outdoors? Indy Parks Environmental and Interpretive Services Division is dedicated to teaching you more about the natural world that surrounds us. While programs are offered at our nature centers, Indy Parks has developed the Hub Naturalist Program, which takes environmental education on the road to those who otherwise may not have exposure.
