Indy Parks is excited to announce that 58 tennis courts at 11 Indianapolis parks will be completely renovated in 2011. This project, a $1.5 million investment, is made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. to the Indianapolis Parks Foundation.

How will the courts be improved?
In addition to resurfacing, the courts will be equipped with new nets and improved fencing. Many of the courts will also be lined to meet the USTA/Midwest Section standards for 10 & Under Tennis, in order to accommodate younger players.

When is this happening?
To allow for construction, courts at the selected parks will be closed between April 1, 2011 and August 31, 2011. We understand this may be a temporary inconvenience, and we ask for your patience as we make this great investment in our community’s tennis facilities.

Which courts will be upgraded?
Renovations will affect tennis courts at these 11 parks:
• Broadway & 61st Park
• Broad Ripple Park
• Brookside Park
• Douglass Park
• Ellenberger Park
• Garfield Park
• Greene Park
• Krannert Park
• Sahm Park
• Tarkington Park

Where else can I play?
To find open courts during the renovation period, please check this listing maintained by the USTA: www.TennisWelcomeCenter.com.

We hope you’ll share our excitement for these new courts and the opportunities they’ll provide our community for years to come.
