Project Description

Purpose

The purpose of the Shelby Street Corridor process is to conserve and enhance existing community assets and to promote beneficial growth. The process will involve stakeholders in shaping goals, objectives and strategies for the corridor. The process will enhance citizen participation in community development and provide citizens with a sense of ownership and civic pride. Once adopted as a segment of the Indianapolis/Marion County Comprehensive Plan, the plan will guide land use and zoning decisions and plans for public and private improvements in the corridor.

Location

The focus of the process is the Shelby Street corridor from Troy Avenue on the north to its intersection with Madison Avenue and I-465 on the south. A small section of Hanna Avenue between Shelby Street and Madison Avenue is included in this study area.
