Background

The first Mayor's Housing Task Force was convened in 1986 with the goal of improving the affordable housing infrastructure in Marion County. In 1998, a Housing Strategy was developed with the primary goal of enabling households at various points along the continuum to move from housing instability and high subsidy to housing stability and market rate housing.

We recognize that, as part of the housing continuum, there are many important initiatives underway that address various housing issues. The Mayor's Housing Task Force has been and will continue to be the best venue for being involved in or learning about these activities. In recognition that the Mayor's Housing Task Force has evolved into primarily an advisory role and a forum for sharing important information, we reevaluated the title of "Housing Task Force" and decided that "Housing Forum" more accurately reflects the function and role of our effort.
